Centennial Scout Rally
As you know, next year marks the 100th year of the Boy Scouts of America, the country’s largest youth serving program. Each council in the country is marking the milestone with events throughout the year. One of the Burlington County Council’s events is a Burlington County Council Centennial Scout Rally. Scouts from throughout the state and neighboring Pennsylvania are encouraged to attend. At the rally, various activities will take place such as sampling Dutch oven and scout field cooking, issuance of a 1st day postal cover and special cancellation commemorating the Centennial, a Brown Sea Island Encampment, a bagpipe demonstration, many Scout games and activities, historical Scouting displays, and Scout themed vendors/crafters/artisans.
The Burlington County Council Centennial Scout Rally will be held in the Village of Crosswicks, New Jersey on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Scouts and volunteer leaders of Boy Scout Troops 55 of Crosswicks and 112 of Jacobstown will be the hosts. The event will be held at the Crosswicks Community House and will also encompass the surrounding grounds and the village of Crosswicks. This is a rain or shine event, so please dress Scout appropriately.
We are making every effort to ensure that this event showcases Scouting in Burlington County as well as New Jersey in the best possible light. Only quality activities, displays, vendors and crafts are going to be available, displayed, traded and/or sold. These items will be presented in an appropriate Scouting manner. Scouts are expected to wear their Field Uniform (sometimes referred to as a “Class A Uniform).
Please make every effort to include this Scouting event on your pack or troops activity agenda. Scouts can attend individually with family or with their pack or troop. Please register online so we can plan this event properly.
