Kokiak, Part II
Participants must attend both weekends.
Kodiak is a leadership development course offered to all Venturers, regardless of position or past experience. And no, it’s not just learning in the woods. In fact, only about one to two hours a day is spent on leadership development. The rest of the time you’re enjoying the beauty of Southern New Jersey.
Your adventure begins the first weekend with a barbeque with your fellow Venturers. After your delicious meal you start your journey into the mysterious New Jersey Pine Barrens. You will spend two days meandering down the Mullica River, stopping overnight for a good night’s rest. You will then visit the historic Batsto Village. You will also have time to sit back along the tidal waters and watch the boats go by while the sun sets into the forest.
In your second weekend, get ready for an exciting competition as our teams compete in the “Battle of the Bikes!” You will trek on your mountain bike deep into the Pines, and you may even encounter the legendary Jersey Devil! After your cycling adventure, you will hike North until you reach the summit of your experience.
