Red Cross Shelter Information
The Red Cross needs your help!
In the aftermath of hurricane Sandy, many parents and leaders have reached out to me to see how they can help. As you have heard, with the devastation along the shore, thousands have lost their homes. Several hundreds of these families are currently residing at Red Cross emergency shelters right here in Burlington County. The Red Cross has asked for help in three ways:
1) Assistance in collecting NEW sweatshirts and sweatpants of all sizes. They are asking that you please call 855-813-1920 or email jhiros@co.burlington.nj.us or kmattson@co.burlington.nj.us if you or your company can help or if you know someone who can.
2) There are many children in these shelters and they are growing bored quickly. The Red Cross has requested that volunteers age 13 and over come to the shelters to run constructive activities and programs for the youth.
3) The Red Cross is also looking for volunteers to help with serving meals. Again, for this they are looking for volunteers age 13 and over.
The two Red Cross shelter locations in Burlington County are:
Burlington Community College, Pemberton Campus, 601 Pemberton-Browns Mills Rd in Pemberton, NJ 08068
Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Rd in Burlington Twp., NJ 08016
If you are able to volunteer at either shelter, or would like to know other ways you, your Scouts or your family can assist those displaced by the storm, please contact the Red Cross at 855-813-1920.
